Addiction Diseases Expert Witness

In medicine, addiction refers to substance abuse. Addictive substances can include alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. When an individual becomes addicted, he or she has used drugs to such an extent that the chemistry of his or her brain is permanently altered and he or she will require higher and higher doses of drugs to achieve the same effects, or “high.” Incidentally, in psychology, the definition of addiction has been extended to include behavioral addiction, for example addiction to shopping, gambling, or eating.
